Admissions: Enrollment and Lottery Information
Enrollment and Lottery Information
Don’t forget to tell your friends and family about this wonderful school. If a family applied last year and are currently on the wait-list, they must re-apply for the 2017-2018 school year. The wait-list is cleared every spring and a new one is created.
The Lottery Date is: Thursday, April 6 at 4:00pm
Full Day Kindergarten lottery will be Monday, April 3rd at 4:00pm
*After March 24, you must fill out a POST Lottery Application to be added to the waitlist for the 2017-2018 school year.
A lottery application must be completed and submitted to North Star Charter School for all students interested in attending NSCS for the 2017-2018 school year. The State of Idaho requires that your student be
5 years old by September 1st, 2017 in order to attend Kindergarten (please refer to Idaho Code Statute 33-201) for the 2017-2018 school year. Proof of birth date is required prior to enrolling.
Informational Tours for Interested Families and Students
In order to help new families learn about North Star, Administrators will be doing four organized presentations and school tours of our school similar to how we ran them last year. We have a 25 minute session to go over our programming in grades K-12 followed by Q&A and tours of the school. Classrooms will be opened up during the day sessions and parents can see students and teachers in action. In the evening sessions, there will be several teachers on site to talk to parents about their specific programs and grade levels. Last year we found this format allowed parents to learn more about our school, see the facility and have some smaller group discussions with teachers.
Please share these dates and times with family and friends who may be interested in joining NS for the 2017-2018 school year!
INFORMATIONAL TOURS WILL BE AS FOLLOWS:
Tuesday, January 17th: 6:00-7:00pm
Wednesday, February 8th: 1:30-2:30pm
Thursday, March 9th: 6:00-7:00pm
Tuesday, March 21st: 1:30-2:30pm
We recommend all interested families attend an open house session or informational tour as we do not give tours outside this time.
Current North Star Students
Current NS families, please let us know if your child/ren will not be returning for the 2017-2018 school year. This must be done in writing or through an email which should be sent to:
- K-5th grader: firstname.lastname@example.org
- 6th-12th grader: email@example.com
If we don’t hear from your family, your child will be automatically rolled to the next grade level within PowerSchool. The only exception to this is for incoming kindergarten siblings. NS families must fill out an application for their child that will be going into kindergarten next year by the March 24th deadline or your child will not be placed in the lottery.
Offers for Enrollment
Within seven days of the lottery, letters will be sent notifying parents/guardians that their child was drawn during the lottery and is eligible to attend North Star Charter School or has been placed on the waiting list.
Students enrolling full-time at North Star Charter School will be given priority in class scheduling over those students within to dual-enroll.
North Star Charter School does not discriminate on the basis on race, color, religion, and national or ethnic origin in its educational and admissions policies and affords to all students the rights, privileges, programs and activities made available at the school.
