Application Procedure
The first step in North Star's application procedure asks parents to submit an application form [PDF] for their prospective student. It may be mailed, dropped off at the school, or faxed to 939-6090.
Prospective students will be given the opportunity to enroll regardless of race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, sex, social or economic status, or special needs.
When an application is submitted, it is kept on file and will be entered into North Star's yearly lottery in April. Once a student is enrolled into the school, they do not have to reapply the next year. Therefore, the lottery is held each year only for the spots not taken by existing students. Students drawn from the lottery, who are in the primary attendance area, will be given first preference to enroll in the school. When the open positions are filled through the lottery, the remaining applicants will be drawn for a numbered wait list. If seats become open during the school year, they will be filled from that numbered wait list chosen in the spring. Siblings of students who are enrolled, or are drawn in the lottery, are given admission priority. They are placed at the top of the wait list in the sibling section for their class.
