North Star’s parent volunteers are a strong part of our success and community. Your participation makes a difference!
Ways to become involved in student life at North Star.
North Star has a very active Parent Teacher Organization for students K-5. PTO sponsors many of the social and fundraising events at the school. Membership is free this year for all parents, with completed enrollment form. Participating in any one of these events is a great way to meet other parents and help out at the same time. Each month, the PTO meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 4 p.m. in the library. More information on how to find fun ways to volunteer for the PTO and enhance your student’s experience at North Star can be found at NS PTO.
2. Booster Club
The Booster Club is a newly formed club to help the Secondary School with social and fundraising events. This is another great way to meet other parents and help the school at the same time. Meetings are scheduled monthly.
3. Sports, Clubs and Activities
If you have a special skill that might prove to be an asset to one of our student organizations, or if you want to be a parent helper in one of your child’s clubs or sports, contact the faculty adviser or coach for that activity. They can let you know where help is needed, or put you in contact with the person who can.
4. School Related Activities
Throughout the year, several events are held that require adult participation and/or assistance. For example, our Framework for the Future campaign and Art & Jazz Night need parent support; there are a variety of activities where volunteer help is needed including graduation(s), field trips, elementary classroom help, school beautification; and each class sponsors events (dances) that also require some adult involvement. Most of these requests for help can be found in our weekly newsletter.
Thank you for your time and commitment to North Star Charter School. Together we can make a difference in the lives of our students!
