National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society

The North Star Charter School National Honor Society (NHS) and National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) are part of the nation’s premier organizations established to recognize outstanding high school and middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NHS and NJHS serve to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character (and Citizenship for NJHS). Chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments, but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.

Other Information

If you are interested in finding out more about this club, please contact our NHS advisor, Megan Beglinger @ mbeglinger@northstarcharter.org

International Club

The High School International Club is off and running again. The International Club consists of student presentations (with PowerPoints, visuals and, often, food samples) about a wide variety of countries – especially the countries of our exchange students.  International Club often sponsors out-of-school meals at local international restaurants.  Other activities (e.g., an international sports competition between locals and exchange students) are anticipated this year.

Meeting Time

Meet in room 306 at lunch every Tuesday.

Quiz Team

Quiz Team is a competitive, academic, interscholastic activity for which players practice and can then represent their school at varsity tournaments. However, Quiz Team students do not have to compete on a large scale, they may choose to participate only in weekly in-school competitions. Quiz Team questions range from the entire spectrum of the high school curriculum to current events, sports and popular culture. Competitions feature a blend of individual competition and team collaboration, since no individual player is likely to be an expert in all subject areas.  Quiz Team can reinforce classroom lessons and also encourage players to go beyond their assignments to master other areas as well.

Meeting Time

High school students meet every Friday for pizza and friendly (but unbridled and ferocious) competition in Ms. Rau’s room.

Please contact Mrs. Rau  HERE.
