Meet Mr. Horning, Head of School / Secondary Principal at North Star Charter School!

Andy Horning is a native Idahoan. He was born and raised by two educators in Emmett, ID. After high school, he went to The University of Idaho. While in school, he was able to experience studying abroad in Brighton, England. What an amazing opportunity! The U of I treated him so well, that he now has earned all three of his degrees from them.

As a native Idahoan, Mr. Horning enjoys all that this great state has to offer. Hunting, fishing, mountain biking, golfing, rafting, and camping are just a few of the things that he loves to do outside of the office. His main love is spending time with his wonderful family. His wife Mandi and two kids Kyler and Kinley keep him busy with sports, vacationing, and laughing all the time.

As mentioned, being raised by two educators, education seemed like the natural path for Mr. Horning. He’s had an amazing career so far. He was a science teacher at both the middle and high school levels. The last 14 years, he has been working as an administrator at both the middle and high school levels as both a principal and assistant principal. He has also had the pleasure of working with elementary schools at the district level. Each of these opportunities have provided Mr. Horning with a great deal of experience and exposure to how different educational systems work.

He is excited to start his 20th year in education with the great people of North Star! Welcome to North Star Charter School, Mr. Horning!
