February 25:

    Middle School 5:30–6:30 p.m.

    Elementary from 6:30–7:30 p.m.

*The high school is located at 8900 N Horseshoe Bend Rd, Boise, ID 83714.

  • The online lottery application for 2026-2027 school year will go live

    Monday, January 12 at 8:00 a.m.

  • The lottery closes Monday, March 9 at 4:00 p.m.

  • The online drawing will be held Tuesday, March 31 at 4:15 p.m.

North Star is a tuition-free public charter school that accepts students through public lottery or availability.

All applicants will be given the opportunity to apply regardless of race, color, ethnic origin, gender, religion, social or economic status, or special needs.

Once a student is enrolled at North Star Charter School, he/she need not re-apply the next year.  All current students are required to register each year to reserve their seat.

Lottery Process

 A lottery application must be completed and submitted online for all students who are interested in attending North Star Charter School.
The “residence” of a prospective student is defined as where the student lives at the time the application is submitted, not where they will live if they are accepted.

When a lottery application is received it is placed into one of the following tiers:

  • Tier 1 – Children of full-time staff/founders
  • Tier 2 – Students of siblings that are currently enrolled at North Star Charter School
  • Tier 3 – (Within Boundary*) – Students living within the boundaries of North Star Charter School
  • Tier 4 – (Outside of Boundary*) – Students living outside of the boundaries of North Star Charter School

Students are drawn in the order of these tiers. After the drawing is held the remaining applications are placed on a waiting list in the order the tiers were drawn. Post-lottery applications will be placed at the bottom of the waitlists in the tier in which they belong.  Seats will be offered to new students from the waitlist throughout the year if and when a seat becomes available.

IMPORTANT: If your student is accepted, you will receive a notice via email. You will be asked to either accept or decline the offer via email within 48 hours. If no response is recorded, the seat will be offered to the next student in waiting.

UPON ACCEPTANCE, we will ask that you provide us with the following enrollment documents:

  • Copy of certified Birth Certificate
  • Proof of Residency (utility bill)
  • Current Immunization Record
  • Current Transcripts (grades 8-12)
  • IEP/Eligibility, 504 or Gifted and Talented Documentation (if applicable)
  • Custody or other Legal Documentation (if applicable)

**Documents may only be submitted in .pdf format. No pictures of documents will be accepted.

Documents are due within 5 days of acceptance to reserve the seat.

Proof of family relationship may also be required for verification.

Kindergarteners must be age five on or before September 1, 2026.

First graders must be six on or before September 1, 2026.

North Star does not provide a school-sponsored lunch program or a free/reduced lunch program.

*NORTH STAR BOUNDARIES:

East of Can-Ada Rd, South of Beacon Light (including Lanktree Gulch to High Country to Deep Canyon), West of Highway 55 to Eagle Rd, North of Cherry Lane.
Extend East boundary to N Horseshoe Bend Rd, South to State St. and North to W. Janie Rd.
Boundary also includes the Eagle Springs Estates East to W. Prairie Rd.
